Updated: Nov 22, 2019
You own a vending business, right? If your answer is yes, then you should be pre-kitting, period. But why? Not just because we say so. We’re not even in the pre-kitting business! We just want your vending business to grow through the roof, and pre-kitting is a huge step towards that goal. If your vending business is more like a hobby, you can stop reading here.
If you want that hobby to become your full-time, profitably living, keep reading!
Why you should be pre-kitting
Better inventory management. Better driver accountability. More efficient routes. More revenue. Did we get your attention with that last one?
There are dozens more reasons to pre-kit, but let’s start here: If your route trucks are currently full of the approximate inventory that you might need at any given time to make sure all machines are full, imagine those trucks full with plastic tote boxes like the one pictured below. In each tote box is the exact inventory for each and every machine on that truck’s route. Each tote box would be loaded from your warehouse based on daily data from each machine on the route. Each machine has a planogram that you update once each quarter based on sales data, and the kit for each machine are based on the sales data from that planogram.
Why you’re not pre-kitting
You don’t have a VMS. Your drivers have told you they prefer to make more than one trip back to the truck at every stop on the route. Your (weekly or monthly) truck inventory process is the highlight of your week. Or maybe you just don’t know where to start. That’s a very common issue, believe it or not. The results of pre-kitting are incredible improvements in efficiency, inventory, and sales, but it’s not just the flip of a switch.
Pre-kitting is a major change to the way you currently operate your business. But it’s worth every second you’ll spend preparing.
Are you ready? Are you READY?!?
How to start pre-kitting
Good! Stay tuned, and by New Year’s Day, you’ll be ready to make that change, and start making more money by making your vending business better.
