Augmented Reality - Not just a fad 🤖

For a lot of us, the first thing that pops into our heads when someone mentions virtual or augmented reality is “that Pokemon game” and the dangerous driving (don’t Pokemon-and-drive, kids) on our city streets in the endless pursuit to “catch ‘em all.” Gimme’s stance: It’s much more than a fad or a trend; AR represents a big leap forward for the unattended retail industry that you shouldn’t ignore.
Last week, we teased our vision of the future of micro markets, and it starts with the camera on an iPad. Augmented reality is set to make a real difference in our industry, and others. But don’t just take my word for it.
Imagine sitting on the 50-yard-line at the Super Bowl…from your living room. No plane tickets, no $10,000 seats required. You’re not just watching the game, you’re controlling your own experience. You turn your head to look at your team’s bench after a heartbreaking turnover. You see determination, you see tears, the coach is screaming for a flag on the play. That’s Intel's vision for the future of sportsfandom. Being entertained at this level isn’t just a fad and it doesn’t end there. We’re training our doctors and surgeons using similar techniques. Imagine being able to observe hundreds of open heart surgeries (in first person!) before picking up a scalpel for the first time. That’s an improvement to the education of medical professionals that will save lives.
